Description:
Charles Emerson uses his own unique method, combining underwater photography and ink, to produce this vivid take on the traditional still-life images of flowers. Inspired by the ‘Vanitas’ artwork of the 16th and 17th Century, Charles has created his own symbolic imagery, in which he explores ideas of fragility in life, death and the hereafter. This piece is created using straight photography with no digital manipulation but rather the compositing of two seperate images
Charles graduated from Falmouth College of Art in 2004 and is now working on both his personal and commercial practice. Charles' personal work has gained international recognition by being selected for the finals of The Sony World Photography Awards 2011.
