Description:
The things that are generally disregarded in the world around her are of great influence to Rose’s work. Where some may see ugliness, disgust or distaste, Rose sees beauty and intrigue.
The object of death is seen not as a morbid obsession created to shock or offend but as an appreciation of what once was: to honour and celebrate its existence. Expressive backgrounds that give a feeling of decay (peeling layers of wallpaper, cracked surfaces, aged and ‘distressed’) are combined with fine attention to detail in the subject matter, producing a vibrant mixture of traditional and experimental techniques.
Rose is a Bristol based artist who graduated in 2003 from The University of the West of England with a BA (hons) degree in Illustration. Since then, her work has steadily progressed towards fine art painting, allowing her more creative freedom. She has exhibited in numerous shows spread across Bristol, Bath, London, Plymouth, Glasgow, Amsterdam, Brussels, New York and Singapore.
